What can massage help with?

Research indicates that massage is effective in managing conditions such as chronic low back pain, soft tissue injuries, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, anxiety and stress, high blood pressure, insomnia, frozen shoulder, sciatica and headaches.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage (RM) focuses on assessing, treating, and rehabilitating tight, tense, immobile, or injured muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue. A combination of techniques is applied to the affected area to reduce pain and inflammation and restore function and balance.

RM works on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. To effectively reach this deeper layer, the surface layer of muscles must first be appropriately warmed up, relaxed, and lengthened. While it works deeply, RM does not need to be painful to be effective. In fact, if a massage is strong, forceful, and painful without first warming up and relaxing the surface muscles, the body will respond protectively by tensing and hardening the muscles, which may reduce the effectiveness of the massage.

After thorough consultation and an assessment of the affected area of the body, Cheryl develops a treatment plan to effectively meet the needs of the presenting condition or injury with the aim to restore normal health and function.

Session duration is usually 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the issue and you may require follow-up appointments to complete the treatment.

Remedial massage can be claimed through your health insurance fund.
